Municipal Marina

Located in a strategic position relative to the North Channel, our local marina offers a convenient position for boaters traversing the Channel from east to west, as well as those entering the area from the United States via De Tour Passage, False De Tour Passage or the Mississauga Strait.

The Town of Thessalon enjoys it's wonderful waterfront location. Our marina offers access to the North Channel, with it's outstanding scenery of the rugged bedrock outcrops, small islands and extensive mature forests. Our local marina is a great place to dock your boat and enjoy yourself. Some comforts include a park-like setting, where visitors can relax in the friendly atmosphere of our modern Captains Cove. As well, there is a walkway to Frost Island, where one can enjoy a wonderful picnic area and the gentle lapping of waves on rocks. Furthermore, not only do we have great facilities, but we also have great rates.

The Marina is just two blocks from the downtown area. Complimentary bicycles are available for those boaters who wish to ride, or if you prefer, you can walk into town or you may call some of the businesses to pick you up; Jones' Valu- Mart, and many of our local restaurants. As well, many of the local businesses will also make dock-side deliveries upon request. There is also a taxi service operating within the community.

As well, it is worth noting that due to the deep water condition of the inner harbor, wave shoaling and refraction effects resulting from bottom friction are insignificant. The Thessalon marina offers a harbor that is safe, comfortable and easily accessible.

Our harbor is protected by a system of two overlapping breakwaters to the south of the Marina site. They have been constructed to join a series of six offshore rock islands. It can be approached through either one of two entrances, a 230 metre wide southwest entrance and a 110 metre wide southeast gap passing to the west of Lily Islet.

Great Lake freighters are able to venture into our harbor because of our natural deep water.
